John Denver was a superstar artist who was a hit with his pop-folk songs and many of them located in Colorado. Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. was raised in Roswell new Mexico, but discovered love for Colorado. He eventually moved to Aspen. Denver's state anthems are a source of inspiration for people to travel to Colorado. G. Brown of the Colorado Music Hall of Fame says the fact that John Denver is unlike any other performer who has the recognizable image of Colorado. Denver, the Hall of Fame's first inductee, was honored with the award in the year 2011. Denver has become the image of Colorado for a lot of people around the world. When I travel, you may meet people at the other end of the planet. Like, for instance, someone who is from New Zealand. And when someone asks you if you're Colorado-based, Colorado people will respond with "Oh John Denver!" Brown declared. Take Me Home Country Roads was Denver's first Top 10 Hit as a Solo Artist after working in small Folk Music Groups. The track was written with Bill Danoff. Danoff composed the tune in the name of Johnny Cash but Denver recognized its potential after hearing it first. The singer recorded the song just a few days later after performing it to crowds of enthusiastic fans on the streets of Washington D.C.
